Bangalore ~ 2013 by Karl Ahnee

“What the f*** am I doing here?”

That was pretty much my predominant thought while gazing at India for the 1st time, through the window of a speeding bus. Bangalore or Bengaluru is the capital of India's southern Karnataka state. The center of India's high-tech industry… meaning, the city was exploding with constructions and although it was not even 6am, life was already picking up the pace of a city that already has more than 8.4 million habitants.

Although I’m not a fan of big cities and despite the overwhelming effervescence of Bangalore, I quickly felt better after arriving at Arvind’s place. Arvind was used to couchsurfers and was recommended by a good friend of mine. The next 3 days I spent in Bangalore were much easier as I was slowly getting in touch with my “inner-traveler” but also because the place reminded me a lot of Mauritius, which was a great way to smoothly start what would be a 2 months discovery of India.

India 2013 - 2014 by Karl Ahnee

Although it feels like a long time ago, I will never forget my 1st trip to India and how much it changed me (as corny as it may sound). Now maybe it’s just about being in a different country for 2 months, far from everything and everyone I know…the fact is, when we are forced to meet new people and constantly re-adapting to new customs…regularly getting out of our comfort zone or actually expanding the zone in which we feel comfortable… something shifts in the way we see the world…it gets smaller and intense…the outcome is somehow rejuvenating…
